How to Become Rich as a Photographer
There’s a whole different kind of wealth in photography—one that has nothing to do with your bank account. Being rich is measured in moments and the realization that a simple photo might one day be all we have left of a person, a place, or a memory.
There are going to be temporary moments that we wish could last a lifetime. The perfect smile on a wedding day, a first house glowing in the sunset, or a pet that wouldn't leave your side. Eventually, temporary moments fade into memories of what used to be.
Money shares that exact same trait. It has a way of showing up right when we need it, yet fading when we wish it wouldn't.
To become rich as a photographer, you need to capture everything. Capture the way she walks in the sand along the coastline. Pause the sunrise on top of a mountain to look back on during a rainy day. Make a fleeting moment last for days, weeks, and years. Be rich in re-living the memories of others—the moments we all wish we could spend just a little more time in.
Don't get me wrong, there is a business side to photography. There are long days spent wondering if the equipment, the time, and the effort are worth it. The good news? Just like the moments, those doubts are temporary. The second you click the shutter, you’ve created a lifelong moment that is entirely yours. You are the owner and the artist of something that will never happen the exact same way again.
